About me
Hi, I'm Iago!
I'm a biologist with interest in the morphology and development of insect body in an evolutionary and functional perspective.
I started working on termites in 2014, exploring different subjects regarding these small and misunderstood insects, including morphology, physiology, chemical ecology, behavior, and molecular genetics.
Since 2019, I'm PhD student in Zoology in the Department of Biodiversity at Sao Paulo State University, Brazil. My PhD research focuses on the oviposition dynamics and morphophysiology of the reproductive apparatus in queens of invasive termite species.

Huge Nasutitermes nest!
Yes, I like both lab and field work
Plus, I really love talking about science! That's why I'm always involved with scientific communication and lectures. Beyond conducting experimental assays and publishing papers, I believe we scientists must make our knowledge more accessible for everyone, contributing to the growth and development of society.
For more information about my involvement with scientific communication, visit Apis & Mellifera: Biological comic strips and Wikitermes! (both pages are available in portuguese)

Beyond working in the lab/field, I also enjoy giving classes, especially about arthropods and other invertebrates. My previous experiences as a teaching assistant and guest lecturer were really valuable to improve my communication skills and knowledge about different subjects.

Outside of work, I also enjoy nature photography, drawing, and cooking!
